2017 Jeep® Compass Awarded IIHS Top Safety Pick for 2017

Every year the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety performs a series of tests on every make and model, as well as other vehicle safety devises such as child seats and restraints. IIHS Safety Testing
The IIHS, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, focuses on testing two components of vehicle safety. First is crashworthiness. This includes how well the vehicle protects its passengers, and ratings range from good, to acceptable, to marginal, or poor. These tests cover 6 major areas: driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints. Second is crash avoidance and mitigation. This includes any technology that can prevent a crash or lessen its severity. These ratings range from basic, to advanced, or superior.

The 2017 Jeep Compass scored “good” ratings in tests that measure side impact with a large SUV or pickup truck, a moderate-offset frontal impact, a small-offset frontal impact, roof-deformation consistent with a rollover, and a rear collision capable of inducing whiplash. The 2017 Jeep^® Compass took a superior crash avoidance and mitigation rating, as did several others from FCA US.
